URGENT CALL FOR HELP

Operation Clean Markets Campaign

The Liberia Marketing Association (LMA) through its president, Mrs. Comfort Marshall, has appealed to the Liberia Environmental Watch, Inc., Liberians and friends of Liberia in the Diaspora to generously donate TRASH BAGS to “Operation Clean Markets Campaign”  

Liberia Environmental Watch welcomes the urgent call from LMA’s leadership considering the magnitude of the problem in the market places. This project will certainly deliver huge health benefits to the marketers and those who frequent and buy food products in these market areas. The campaign goals for 2007 are: 

• Collect 50,000 pieces industrial/construction type trash bags (39-50 or above gals size)
• Ship the trash bags in barrels to Liberia, one of which holds about 5000 pieces
•  Raise $2,500.00 for shipment and local transportation for distribution 

We expect this project to significantly reduce trash/garbage, which poses public health problems to marketers, especially women and children. If the program is effectively executed with prior environmental educational awareness, there will be less exposure hence reducing the imminent threats with decomposed trash/garbage and the unbearable odor associated with it.  

This letter of inquiry, therefore, explains the Trash/Garbage Collection Campaign for which we ask your support for its implementation. We choose to make this request to you because you do not only know Liberia trash/garbage problems, but helping the effort will help the health standard of marketers (mostly women and children) amid the country’s un-disposed trash/garbage rate.
